Brazil and Germany through to the semi- finals of FIFA world cup.

Am so sad all my predictions for the two games did not come to pass. Brazil and Germany are now through and they will meet each other in the semi finals.

Results.

France 0 - 1 Germany
Brazil. 2 -  1 Colombia

In the first game of the day, Germany defeated their European counterpart France 1-0. Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels scored the only goal of the match in the 12 minute via a header from a Toni Kroos looped freekick. France threatened to come back but their final passes let them down.

Much was expected from the Brazil - Colombia game and it did not disappoint since both teams attacked with pace and venom. Captain and inspirational leader Thiago Silva got the first goal for Brazil after he guided a Neymar free kick with his knee into an empty net in the 5th minute . David Luiz doubled Brazil's lead with an exquisite free kick which left David Ospina for death. Colombia star player James Rodriguez reduced the arrear with a penaltyin the 80th minute to take his tally for the tournament to 6. Brazil held on for the victory after some nervy ending to the match. Neymar however was stretched out of the match with a lower back injury.
