In order to have her peace of mind, veteran Ghanaian actress, Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, has turned all the buildings she used to run her orphanage, into rented apartments.
She said: “Yes, I’ve turned them into rented apartments and it is fetching me more money. I had good intentions for my own country and people but my dreams were shattered. At least now I have my peace. My name is also resting. I will be 70 years very soon so I don’t want any noise and things that will raise my blood pressure. What I need now is a sound mind.
Would Maame Dokono establish another orphanage before she leaves this world? She responded, “Well I can’t say no. As the saying goes, never say never. However, I’m still reaching out to less privileged people in other forms. For instance, I’m part of the team at Royal House who assist the aged, Kayayos – female head porters from the Northern part of Ghana, prisoners and others.
Every Thursday, the aged comes to Royal House. I counsel them, feed them, pray with them, sing and dance with them so that they can also feel loved and accepted in the society. I also look after some blind people in my hometown.
So yes, I may establish another orphanage given all the favourable conditions. In my next attempt, I shall acquire the certificate they wanted me to acquire before I run an orphanage (laughs). I have a vast land in my hometown and in Accra to start another orphanage.”
The ace actress, gender activist and politician, who owned and run an orphanage known as Peace and Love Orphanage, was arrested together with Mary Anaglate – one of the workers of the home some years back. The two were charged with three counts of operating an orphanage without a license and also exposed a child to harm in the home.
Her arrest was caused when the police got a scoop that an eight year old boy who was under the care of Peace & Love home, allegedly sodomised a 6 month old baby also in the orphanage. Her orphanage was thus closed down but latter when the court acquitted and discharged her, she could not continue running the orphanage again.
Maame Dokono was part of the campaign team of the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2008, and a strong critic of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). When her orphanage was closed, she accused the ruling government NDC, of which she was once a member of of witch-hunting.
Indeed, many have said that but for that court harassment which had political influences and undertones, Maame Dokono would still be running her orphanage. No wonder recently, she told the media that politics is a bad game and admitted it has cost her so much agony in life.
She urged people in showbiz or the creative arts industry, to shun politics. “If I support a particular political party, why should I become an enemy to my brother or sister, friend or another political party? But this is the kind of country we live in!” Maame Dokono intimated.

Costa Rica and The Netherlands March to the Quarter Finals.

Earlier in the day The Netherlands defeated Mexico by coming back to win the game 2-1 . Giovani Dos Santos scored the first goal of the match but Netherlands rallied back by scoring the equalizer through Wesley Sneijder who scored with a sweet strike . The Netherlands completed the comeback by scoring a penalty through Klaas Jan Huntelaar. The penalty was won under controversial circumstances since it appeared Rafa Marquez's tackle on Robben was soft but the referee decided to award the penalty to The Netherlands which was dispatched by the nerveless Klass Jan Huntelaar.

Costa Rica continued their impressive form by defeating Greece through penalties . After 90 minutes the match was tied 1-1 but Costa Rica won the ensuing penalty kicks 5-3. Bryan Ruiz gave Costa Rica the lead after striking a sweet low drive but Greece equalised late through Borussia Dortmund's Sokratis Papastathopoulos after he connected with a rebound . Keylor Navas was the hero for Costa Rica as he saved Theofani Gekas penalty which paved the way for their victory . Costa Rica will now meet The Netherlands in the quarter final stage which is on 5th July, 2014.

Brazil and Colombia advance to the Quarter finals .

The 2014 FIFA World cup is now in the knockout stages and we were treated to some wonderful and nerve wrecking football today . Brazil took center stage and they struggled to overcome Chile, they eventually beat their South American counterpart through penalties . Brazil won 3-2 after a drab 1-1 draw with Chile , David Luiz scored the first goal before Chile's Alexis Sanchez equalised for his country . After an entertaining 120 mins the match was decided through penalties . Brazil owe goalkeeper Julio Cesar since he save two penalties .

On the other game , Colombia overcame Uruguay who missed Luis Suarez by a 2-0 scoreline . AS Monaco playmaker James Rodriguez was the star of the show since he scored two goals for his team . James Rodriguez is now the top scorer of the competition with 5 goals and he is arguably the best player of the competition so far . Brazil meets Colombia in the quater finals for an epic South American clash.

Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera Join Man UTD.

Manchester United have signed two top talents to augment their present squad . They have signed Luke Shaw from Southampton FC and Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao in Spain. Luke Shaw cost the Manchester club the sum of £27 million pounds while Herrera cost £29 million pounds . Luke Shaw became the most expensive teenager ever and he is on a 100,000 a week salary.

The current state of Ghana .

I just went to a shop to buy a bottle of sprite and i was told it now cost GH₵1.50p and I smiled to myself and said ,"what is this country turning into ?". Ghana is now facing a lot of crises and it behooves on us to ensure that Ghana stands on its feet again and defeat these present situations . Things have to get back to normal and this is not the time for blame games although the government must shoulder some of the blames . I quiet remember few years ago things were going on smoothly for everyone , there were constant supply of light  and water, stable currency, low inflation rates etc . Now in Ghana goods, services and commodities are now becoming expensive . The ordinary man will struggle hard to feed these days even the rich man will feel the pinch because of the crises the country is going through . Few days ago , it was reported that the country has short supply of fuel even for its own citizens. This is absolutely ridiculous since Ghana is an oil producing country .Where is all the money going to and which way now for our beloved Ghana ? Some problems Ghana is facing are :

• Constant black out
• Short supply of water 
• High inflation
• Increase in prices of fuel
• Corruption from the head to bottom.
• Environmental problems
• Depreciating currency   

These days almost everybody has become self centered that we all think about ourselves , please it is time to go back to the drawing board and make some massive changes before it gets out of hand. We must think about one another and try to help whenever problems come since the old adage says"charity begins at home". If matters at home can be handled properly then that means we are ready to handle national issues. I believe in Ghana , I believe in Africa !

Everything about this agrarian community hurts. The pain that flows from the abduction of the innocent school girls coupled with the inability of the security agencies to locate and secure their release almost two months after they were seized by malevolent gunmen, torments the parents of the affected Chibok girls like a timeless mirage.Chibok is plagued by many ills that leave it at the mercy of fate and uncertainty. Although it serves both as a community and a local government headquarters with a population of 66,105 according to the 2006 census, it has not been blessed with the necessary security infrastructure to shield it from the slightest invader.From the absence of basic amenities that support decent living to the establishment of schools, health and social services, the community is lagging behind. Tucked in a forest that is 140 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Chibok bears the imprint of a ghost town even at normal times.It crawls behind in terms of development just as its natives have been stripped of modernity. Life in Chibok can at best be described as a natter with all that is uncivilised but the daring ones have managed to trudge on.With a predominantly Christian population, this makes it attractive for Boko Haram that is opposed to any religion that does not recognise Islam.

The April 14 invasion that saw the Islamists carting away over 200 girls was not their first onslaught and may not be the last, going by the apprehension that now pervades the town with an area of 1,350 square kilometres.Why did they allow things to get to a precarious level leading to the seizure of the girls, whose parents had laboured to send them to school at a time when many others in the northern part of Nigeria do not consider education as important as begging or farming? Many questions have continued to poke the mouth over the failure in Chibok that led to the kidnapping of the young girls.Why was it necessary to keep such a large number of children in a school that had no sufficient security arrangement to ward off potential invaders? Reports have it that only a handful of policemen were on hand to confront the invaders who were armed with more sophisticated weapons.The ease with which the insurgents plotted their mission and accomplished it; and the time it has taken to even locate the victims, smack of a grand conspiracy. It remains a puzzle how the irritants managed to carry the children in over 30 trucks and drive through the myriads of checkpoints mounted at every pole in the city without being seen by soldiers and policemen on duty.

Now, tongues are wagging as to why the Borno State Government allowed the girls to take the WASCE in the school when it was clear to the authorities that it was unsafe to do so.In fact, the Supervising Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has joined issues with Governor Kasshim Shettima, blaming him for allowing the girls to assemble in Chibok for the examination knowing the danger that was lurking around the environment.Wike said in Abuja that Shettima should accept the blame for the abduction of the girls, having ignored his directive not to host the examination in Chibok but in Maiduguri, the state capital, which according to him, was considered safer.Wike said he personally wrote on March 12, 2014 to the governors of the three northern states under state of emergency to make proper arrangements for their students to sit for the WASSCE in their respective states but that none of them responded to his letter with reference number HMSE/FME/147/VOL.1/150 and entitled: “Security challenges and the conduct of the 2014 WASSCE and SSCE in Borno, Yobe and parts of Adamawa States”.The letter read: “In view of the current security challenges in the Northeast states of the country, the West African Examination Council, WAEC, and the National Examination Council, NECO, have expressed concerns over the safety of their officers who will be deployed to supervise the conduct of the 2014 edition of the examination in your state.“In response to the concerns, I have directed that the candidates in the Federal Unity Colleges be assembled in the respective state capitals where they are to sit for the examinations in safe locations. You are please enjoined to make contingency arrangements for candidates from public and private schools in your state to sit for the examinations in safe locations”.

The three paragraph letter concluded: “Details of your arrangements should be forwarded to the Federal Ministry of Education and the two examination bodies for their information and necessary action”.But the Borno governor, who managed to attempt a reply to the allegation that he did not do much to prevent the abduction, said that as a father he did his best to stall it. Shettima, said he would, however, not join issues with those who accuse him of stage-managing the abduction, saying such claim was as painful to him as the kidnapping of the children.Whatever might have informed the governor of Borno not to respond to the minister’s warning and what has happened is now part of world history, which is difficult to retrieve but the danger is that government at the state and federal levels failed the Chibok girls and people.In reality, if the provision of security as enshrined under the First Schedule of the Nigerian Constitution and the education of the girl-child had been accorded priority by the Nigerian government, no calamity would have befallen the children.

The odds against Chibok are legion: the other day on television, many of the school girls, who were lucky and brave enough to escape from their captors’ den, were seen speaking in Hausa as if they had never seen the four walls of a secondary school.The questions arises: Could it possible that the girls who were writing their WASCE as at the time they were seized on April 14, 2014 were unable to speak and write English? If the answer is in the affirmative, what language were they using to write the WASCE?Many have tended to argue that the girls featured on television as the lucky ones who escaped, could not have been the ones from Chibok while others insist they are the victims of the poor education system in the North, where Hausa language is used freely by poorly trained teachers, who can hardly defend their own certificates.At least, such teachers, who can hardly spell their names, were recently discovered by Kaduna and Bauchi state governments, which have now decided to administer written tests on teachers with a view to flushing out those who have no business in the system. But can Governor Shettima afford to conduct a similar examination to gauge the true state of his teachers either in Chibok of elsewhere?Chibok has become a metaphor for failure, pain and anguish for parents and exposed the level of decadence in the Nigerian education and security sectors to the world. But while the world watches with utter outrage and disbelief, the parents are the losers of an unending war by Boko Haram: head or tail, the poor souls are the losers. And, it really hurts!

Online bookmaker Betsafe had been offering odds of 175/1 that the Uruguayan would attack an opponent in Brazil.

Suarez denies claims that he bit Italy's Giorgio Chiellini during Tuesday's match, but the sport's governing body, Fifa, has opened an investigation into the claim.

Yaa Pono "Accused" of stealing song .

Popular Ghanaian rapper and Pidgin Music act Yaa Pono have been accused of stealing a song that does not belong to him . The "Amen" star was accused by a rock band called Dark Suburb for lying in an interview in which he claimed ownership of a song called "I Dey Feel You Die". He was actually featured on the song . The question is why did he claim to own the song when he knew very well that the owners will come for his head ? Musicians and entertainers should be punished if any of them if found guilty of copyright theft . The full story below.

Rock band Dark Suburb is accusing Yaa Pono of hijacking their song, ‘I Dey Feel You Die”.In a press release Suburban Records wrote; “We would like the general public to know Yaa Pono does not own “I Dey Feel You Die” as he claimed in his interview with BBC’s Rita Ray.“I Dey Feel You Die” was penned by Syn, the lead vocalist of Faint Medal and was produced by Kilo, and featured Yaa Pono. “Faint Medal started working on the song with Kyekyeku and the plan was to put Sarkodie on it but Kilo who was heavily linked with Yaa Pono asked us to feature Yaa Pono and we agreed.” “After the record was done, it sounded great and Faint Medal thought about a joint album with Yaa Pono but that never materialized because his label never gave Faint Medal a contract. They have performed the song with Yaa Pono severally but has never handed the song to him, so to hear him on BBC Global Beats claiming the song shocked us.” “I Dey Feel You Die” was recorded in late 2011 and released in 2012 and the still video on Youtube has about 3000 views now. 16 years old gang raped in Rivers State.

POLICE have arrested members of a 15-man gang that allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in Gbuga area of Ogbunabali, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.The state Police Commissioner, Mr Tunde Ogunsakin, told newsmen, yesterday, at the Police headquarters in Port Harcourt that the girl allegedly attended a party organised in the area, adding that she took a glass of strong drink offered her by one of the rapists which made her pass out before she was allegedly raped by 15 men.He said: “The victim reported that she attended a party at Ogbuga Street in Ogbunabali, Port Harcourt organised by one Tina.“While at the party, she was given a glass of strong drink by Tambari Dumlesi. That was the last memory she had before she was raped by 15 men. She woke up to find herself in torn boxers and with swollen privates.“The victim has since been taken to the Police clinic for check up and treatment while three suspects have been apprehended. Investigation is still on.” Police nab ritualistHe said his men also arrested a ritualist and kidnapper in Igwuruta area of the state, adding that a human skull was among items recovered from him.According to the Police Commissioner, the suspect confessed that the human skull was that of a lady he allegedly murdered for money rituals.He said: “The Special Anti Robbery Squad responded to a tip-off and led a combined team to arrest a suspect of cultism, kidnap and ritual killing in his home in Igwuruta, Rivers State on June 24, 2014.“At the point of his arrest, the suspect was discovered to be in possession of two locally made pistols, live ammunition and a human skull. These were recovered from him.“Upon subsequent investigation, it was revealed that the skull was that of a lady murdered by the suspect and his gang. The suspect also owned up to using the skull as a medium to get rich, claiming that the skull speaks to him and provides him with 10, 20, 50 Naira notes after special sacrifice.“The suspect has since confessed his membership of the brutal cult group, Dey‑well.

Victims Get Mass Burial in Kaduna.

It is really sad to see all these things happening in Nigeria , we pray that God will bring solace, peace and unity to our dear country. Please our dear politicians and leaders stamp your authorities and ensure that these killings come to an end by augmenting the security system in Nigeria .

No fewer than 110 victims of Monday and Tuesday’s killings in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State were, yesterday, given mass burial.Chairman of the local government, Mr. Emmanuel Adamu confirmed this development in a telephone interview with Vanguard.The National Chairman of Ninzom Progressive Youth, Mr. Bezard Wuyah, who also confirmed the mass burial, said those buried included an unnamed Igbo trader and his wife. The victims were buried in a parcel of land between Gwantu Kurmi and Kobin near the local government.Speaking on the issue, Adamu said: “We have just finished giving 110 people mass burial this (yesterday) afternoon. We had no choice, because their corpses were decomposing as a result of poor facilities at the hospitals.“However, not all the dead were given mass burial. Some families were able to identify their loved ones, so they were allowed to take the bodies away. I cannot give the number of bodies taken away by families.“All those that are injured will be treated by Sanga Local Government free of charge. Normalcy has returned with the beefing up of security in the area. Today (yesterday) we got eight Toyota Hilux loads of soldiers from Kaduna, who have come to join those already on ground.“I want to appeal to all the people of Sanga to please forgive and leave vengeance to Almighty God. I beg everyone to remain law abiding, but vigilant.”On his part, Wuyah said: “This (yesterday) afternoon, our people who were killed without provocation were buried in a mass grave between Gwantu Kurmi and Kobin.“It was not only our people that were killed. I am told that an Igbo man, who had lived long in Kobin, was killed along with his wife and his shop burnt by the Fulani herdsmen.“Our land has been desecrated and we are deeply mourning. We do not expect the government to treat this with levity by taking our peaceful and law abiding nature for granted.”Meanwhile, the 24 hour curfew imposed on the area is still in force.

After 14 years of pregnancy, she finally gives birth !

Incredible and miraculous things happen in this world that we live in , I know majority of you will find it hard to believe but you better believe it because it just happened. A woman in Nigeria delivered  a baby which she has been carrying for 14 years !! YES, 14 years ...

Saturday June 7, 2014, will remain the happiest day in the life of Mercy James. Reason? That was the day she miraculously gave birth to a baby girl after 14 years of being pregnant.


The baby was promptly and aptly christined Miracle. And why not? If the mother had delivered at the expected time the child would have been a teenager by now and possibly in secondary school at the JSS 3 level.

Mercy, a single parent, said of her ordeal during the 14 years she was pregnant but could not give birth: “When I first took in, I knew that I was pregnant with signs and test that confirmed that I was. Four months later, I went to hospital for another test, the result showed that I wasn’t pregnant, but had fibroid.
Subsequently, I began to experience bleeding, at least once a day. Sometimes, my tummy would protrude in the semblance of pregnancy. I went to different hospitals, and I kept on receiving the same result that nothing was wrong with me. But deep down inside , I knew that all was not well with me.

Churches and native doctors
“So I was taken aback when a midwife told me I was pregnant. But considering the test which showed I had fibroid, I was angry with the midwife for giving me what I felt was a false prophecy of hope. Thereafter, I started going from one church to another and from one native doctor to the other. The results that I got from them all remained the same. I became more feeble and confused that I prayed for death to come.
“I went again to the midwife two years after and complained to her about the pains that I was going through, she told me again that it was not fibroid but pregnancy; she advised me to be more prayerful so that God will deliver me from the hands of the devil. I kept on praying and at the same time asking myself that if truly I’m pregnant, why is it that the baby was not kicking?
“I bought many concoctions that they said could cure fibroid and drank them. I even drank 12 bottles of a local cleanser but to no avail. This went on for years. Then God took pity on me and decided to wipe my tears.

On the day I gave birth to my baby girl, I initially thought that worms were trying to come out of my body not knowing that it was a baby. This was what I told the midwife when we came to her. But after examining me she told me to push.
I ignored her. I became unconscious for about 15 minutes and when I regained consciousness, I heard the cry of a baby. I was surprised and confused seeing my baby. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Hmm,I thank God for my life and that of my baby Miracle. I named her Miracle because she is truly a miraculous child”.

The midwife at the Celestial Church of Christ, Kadoso Parish, Ajegunle where Mercy gave birth confirmed the development, especially the role she played.
The woman who simply gave her name as Mrs Ajetima informed thus: “She was pregnant for 14 years and was unable to give birth during this period. Then on Saturday around 6:30am I saw two persons carrying her to this place. When she came inside, I laid her down and asked one of my daughters to examine her, after the examination, I found out that it was a baby that was about coming out and not worms. I asked her to push and she refused. My daughter gave her a hard slap on her laps since she refused to push.

Behold a baby with placenta came out! I started shouting, calling on people to come and see for themselves that Mercy was truly pregnant, because if not, people will start to say that that Celestial woman has given Mercy a baby. Within a twinkle of an eye, the whole place was filled with people. God is wonderful”.

Also affirming the happy development, Mercy’s closest friend, Odunayo Odeyemi had this to say: “I have known mercy for over nine years now. I met her with the pregnancy . In fact, she did not know that she was pregnant. I followed her to many places but her problems kept on increasing. Merely looking at Mercy then before she gave birth, you will notice that she wasn’t okay. I kept advising her to have faith in God because I had experienced the same thing. I was pregnant for three years and three months and God delivered me.
“Mercy came to me on that fateful day around 4am begging me to give her a pain reliever, that she was having pains all over her body. I dressed up and took her to a man that sells drugs.


After taking the drug, on our way home, she started having serious pains. I called her brother and we both took her to the midwife. Hours later, she gave birth to a bouncing baby girl. We all were surprised because we never expected such a miracle to happen. She had a complete baby.”
Robert Davidson, one of Mercy’s friends, said that he concluded after seeing Mercy with a protruded tummy for three years that she had fibroid. So, “it came to me as a shock to learn that she delivered a bouncing baby girl.”

For Chidimma Ibe, a neighbour: “She always complained to me that she had stomach pains all these period.
She told me that she had fibroid and sometime, she will complain of different things. She was totally confused as to what her condition was. I’m very much surprised and happy she gave birth to a complete baby girl. It was truly a miracle. God was on her side. God is wonderful because all the concoctions she took were enough to kill the baby.”
On the father of Baby Miracle, Mercy informed that they got separated on account of the ordeal that attended her pregnancy. “Friday is the name of my baby’s father. Actually, we are not married. He just proposed to me and I became pregnant for him. He knew about the pregnancy. According to Express Newspaper UK , Chelsea FC have lodged a £16 million bid for Nigeria and Fenerbache front man Emmanuel Emenike . Emenike moved to the Turkish club just last season but he has caught the eyes of many scouts and clubs with his splendid and robust performances for his country at the ongoing FIFA world cup in Brazil . Ghana and Portugal out of the world cup .

So after all the permutations and calculations Ghana and Portugal are out of the world cup even though Portugal won the game 2-1 with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the winning goal. The match between U.S.A and Germany also played a part since Germany defeated U.S.A 1-0 hence qualifying ahead of Portugal with a better goal difference. It was a match that was clouded with controversies earlier in the day around the Ghana camp. Kevin Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari were sent home because of lack of discipline and the use of vulgar words on the coach. Sulley Muntari was suspended since he manhandled a GFA executive member .However, Asamoah Gyan became the first African player to score more than 5 goals in the world cup after grabbing the equaliser for Ghana.

Nigeria quailifies for Round of 16.

First of all , I thank God for the victory he gave us , the coach , players and the loyal supporters of Nigeria for making this victory possible. Ahmed Musa got two goals as well Lionel Messi however Marcos Rojo grabbed the winner to settle the entertaining encounter. Argentina won the match 3-2 against Nigeria. However, props must be given to Vincent Enyeama for making magnificent saves and Bosnia and Herzegovina for showing professionalism in beating Iran 3-1. Nigeria might face France in the round of 16 ,lets hope for the best and ensure we correct our mistakes to enable us to win the game . Anyway take a lot at the pic below  and share your thoughts. The big game is here although some football purists will see this game as an easy game for the Nigerians .This game must be won by the Nigerian team since it will ease anxiety and enable them to concentrate for the next game against Bosnia. However, one thing the Nigeria team must do is not to underrate the Iran national team . According to statistics, the Iranians are very good in the air so the Nigerians must be wary about that . The Nigerians also have in their arsenal players such as Emmanuel Emenike , John Obi Mikel , Odemwingie and Vincent Enyeama who play for big clubs and can turn up when they find the right rhythm and sync.The Iranians are blessed with players such as Dejagah and Javad Nekounam who can hurt the Nigerians when they are at their best. However , I expect Nigeria to do the business and win this game because they have to since Argentina and Bosnia will not come easy  . Come on the Super Eagles !!! So what is your prediction folks ?

Gianluigi Buffon out of Italy's world cup game against England .

Italian goalkeeper and captain has been ruled out of the game with England. The Juventus legend is out with an ankle injury which he suffered in training yesterday. He confirmed this on his Facebook page and this is what he wrote ;
